Actual
content will be agreed by negotiation with the organisers but normally
we expect to provide workshops on:

The practice of home education. - Drawing on the most up to date research.
- The
law as it relates to home education.
It will
normally run from around 9:30am to 5:30pm.
The conference
pack will include:
- Free
Range Education: The leading book on the subject of home education edited
by Terri Dowty; includes a legal chapter by Ian Dowty
- A
review of the research literature
Speakers:
Mike
Fortune-Wood
- a
long standing home educator undertaking extensive research into home
education for a leading educational charity.
- Owns
and runs "Home Education UK" the UK's largest and oldest independent
website supporting home education and offering advice.
- owns
and runs the foremost European website on home education.
- part
of the lay editorial team that wrote the "Elective Home Educational
Legal guidelines" (EHELG).
- currently
writing books on school refusal and the face of home education in Britain.
Ian Dowty
- a
long standing home educator

a solicitor with a specialist practice in home education law who is
well-known and respected in the home education community

lectures frequently on home education

contributed the legal chapters to Free Range Education and Home Educating
our Autistic Spectrum Children (Paths are made by Walking).
Cost:
- £1,500
- the
LEA will provide: A location for the course, overhead projector and
screen, parking for one vehicle, refreshments and arrangements for lunch.
- LEA's
are free to arrange for colleagues from other establishments to attend,
we would however require an attendance list prior to the conference.
- We
will make arrangements for our transport and accomodation.
