Les Enfants d'Abord

is the main support group in France. It can offer legal advice and support

Home education in France has become more difficult recently. Parents must register with the mayor and the local inspector ("inspecteur d'académie") and families are inspected once a year.

I would strongly advise anyone contemplating home education in France to contact Les Enfants dAboard before embarking upon this course of action.

European colloquium on home education, April 22nd and 23rd, 2006, in Reims

An international colloquium on home education, gathering together foreign and French speakers, parents, academics and students, French and foreign organisations interested in home education, will be organised by "Les Enfants d'Abord", French national home education organisation, on April 22nd and 23rd, 2006, at the International Center in Reims. Don't miss this event where some of the speakers will be:

- Alan Thomas, researcher and author of "Educating Children at Home", based on research on different learning styles in home education
- Leslie Barson, founder of the Otherwise Club in London and Learning Unlimited, organisation for the promotion of autonomous learning and the support of home education
- Robert Bell, vice president of the European Forum for Freedom in Education (EFFE) and Lies Feron, European Affairs Manager for the EFFE.

Entrance to the colloquium: 15 € for individuals, 20 € family (2 adults or more)

Languages of the colloquium: French and English
