Home Education is Legal in Italy, though very rare.

Article 34 states that there should be "giusto motivo" which translates as "just cause" with respect to home education, Thus you cannot simply decide to home educate on a whim. If your child has for example special needs or is perhaps none italian speaking these might constitute "just cause" I would suggest that you contact a lawyer in italy to confirm this.

Article 30 requires an equivalence in educational standards to school education and there is a requirement that your child is tested a couple of times by a public school.

Home education is reported as being very uncommon and at best considered eccentric. Home Educators sometimes need to defend their right to home educate, occasionally with the help of a lawyer.

There is an expectation that forigners will display eccentric behaviour in their choices about a wide range of issues and so if you are not Italian there will be a degree of social acceptance for your choice to home educate.

Vaccination for children is a legal requirement in Italian schools and a refusal to vaccinate your child will result in exclusion from school.

I have an american Home education group based in Milan here

and sevoral Italian groups as they are all in Italian I have no idea who they are or what they do but I am informed that they are Home education support groups:
